Make a payment

One screen. You see the verdict before you send, and every result says whether money moved.

#On the New payment screen

  1. #Choose the account and the service

The payment comes from your policy on the account you have selected. Switch accounts in the Teams section of the sidebar.

Choose one of your approved services.

You never type an address. You pick a service, and the contract finds its payee in the service registry at the moment of payment.

  2. #Enter the amount

The summary beside the form updates as you type. It shows the payment, what you will have left this period, and how many payments you will have left. If your policy would refuse the payment, the summary says so and why, before anything is sent. The button changes to match:

    • Send $10.00 when the policy allows it
    • Ask for approval when the policy would hold it

The payment carries a note saying what it was for, such as "Payment to Acme Inference API", or the purpose from a Nini draft. The contract stores it on the receipt, up to 200 bytes.

  3. #Send

Press Send. Your browser approves the exact payment with your wallet, Nuntio's server checks it again and relays it with the gas paid, and the account contract decides. While it is on its way, the screen says nothing is final until the chain confirms.

  4. #Read the result

    ResultWhat it meansDid money move?
PaidThe chain confirmed the payment. You see how long it took and a receipt with what you have leftYes
Held by your rulesYour policy refused it. You can ask your owner to approve itNo
Not allowedRefused for a reason an approval cannot fixNo
PendingWe could not confirm the outcome yetNot yet known. Check Activity before you pay again

#You cannot pay twice by accident

Every payment gets its own reference, saved with its details in your browser. If you reload the page or press Send twice, the same reference goes with it. The contract records each reference once per spender and refuses a second payment with it. If that happens, the app tells you the payment has already been made and asks you to check Activity, not that it failed.

#What the contract checks

The preview is advice. The contract checks again when the payment arrives, cheapest checks first:

  1. The account is not paused, and it is sealed.
  2. The amount is above zero and the note is 200 bytes or less.
  3. You have a policy, and it is Active.
  4. Your access has not ended.
  5. The service is on your approved list.
  6. The payment's reference has not been used.
  7. The period rolls over if it has ended.
  8. The amount is within your cap per payment.
  9. The amount is within what is left of your allowance.
  10. You have payments left this period.
  11. The registry resolves the service to its payee. An unknown or suspended service is refused.

Only then does money move. The contract records the reference as used, transfers the AUSD, and records the amount it measured leaving the account. That measured amount is what your receipt shows.

If any check fails, the whole transaction is undone and nothing moves. See When a payment is refused.

#Other ways to pay

  • Ask Nini. Type what you want to pay for on Home or on the Nini page. Nini drafts the payment, you check the card and confirm it, and it goes through the same steps. See Nini, the assistant.
  • Through an agent. An agent pays on its own schedule, within its own policy. Agents are in beta and run only on Nuntio's own account for now, not on team accounts. On mainnet there is nothing for an agent to pay yet. See AI agents.
